Bees are a crucial part of the ecosystem, pollinating flowers and crops, and producing honey. Still, bees can be a pain – literally and figuratively – when they decide to build a hive on your property. And, they can be highly dangerous; especially if any of your family members or guests are allergic to bee stings.

There is a difference to having a bee problem, and just having a couple of bee visitors. Seeing a bee or two flying around doesn’t mean you have a problem, but if you frequently notice bees clustering or swarming around a specific area of your home or business, there’s probably a hive nearby. It is very important to note to never kill bees on your own. Bee control can be very dangerous and should always be conducted by a trained professional.

But how much does professional bee removal cost? What should you expect to pay?

Well, a lot of the fees depend on certain factors which we will go into shortly. However, the national average for bee or wasp removal typically ranges between $90 and $425.

The price of removing bees can be dependent on several factors, such as:

The Location of the Bees

This is the biggest factor when it comes to bee removal. The easier a pest control professional can reach the bees, the cheaper and more cost effective the job will be. Unfortunately, if you find your bees nest sitting high in a tree, lurking behind parts of your building or even tucked away in an attic, the price will go up.

Believe it or not, some local laws consider bees in a home’s structure to be a severe health and safety issue. It is therefore important to remove the bees quickly to avoid any legal complications.

Species of bee and number

This is an element that is split up into a number of deciding factors and is related somewhat to the location of the nest. You see, different species of bee like to live in different areas. Honey bees like to build hives on or in structures; it is these bees you will most likely find in your house or in a tree etc. Whereas bumble bees prefer to nest on the ground, and carpenter bees will burrow themselves into wood. It is easy to confuse bees with wasps or hornets depending on where they see them nesting however remember that not all bees build their hives in the same kinds of places.

Each species too has their own temperament. You will find that Africanized honey bees for example will be so aggressive when trying to move that to destroy them may be the only option.

The number of bees also affects the bee removal price too. Carpenter bees are largely solitary whereas honey bees can actually average around 50,000 per colony!

Clean Up

It is very important to understand fully what is included in the price of your bee removal, and the work that the professional needs to complete. For example, removing certain bee nests may require holes to be cut in the ceilings or in walls. If this is the case, whom is going to repair the carpentry. Some professionals will include this in the price, whereas some will not. So you need to be prepared to hire a contractor or handyman to fix and repair any necessary damage. In some instances, walls may need to be cut open to safely get to the colony which could equate to a costly bill!

The same can be said for cleaning and tidying up too! Of course, we are sure that many a bee removal professional will take their time and not to try to make too much of a mess but there will be all sorts of honey drippings and dead bees around the hive and on the exit from it’s position. This will be your responsibility and may take time to clean!

The only way to fully control a bee problem is to remove the hive entirely. It can be very tempting to just have the bees killed as they remove the hive. However, many bee professionals and beekeepers will be able to offer live removals that are much more humane indeed. Of course, always ensure that the professional you use is fully licensed and insured.

The post How Much Does Bee Removal Cost? first appeared on Beeremoval.

Bees are magnificent creatures who are often taken for granted, especially when they decide to set up shop too close to your home or office. While they might not get along with humans all of the time, they are still fascinating.

Their distinctive “buzz” is produced by the beating of their wings, which move at up to 200 beats per second. Bees visit 50+ flowers per day, collecting nectar for honey, and each worker bee can make about 1/12 teaspoon of honey in their lifetime, which can be up to 5 months.

Did you know that hives travel? A hive has been recorded traveling up to 90,000 miles for honey.

Bees aren’t always our favorite creatures, but they are certainly among the most interesting! If you have a bee problem, contact us today.

Those little buzzing bees are doing more than just flying from flower to flower, harvesting nectar for honey. While they’re at work, they’re also pollinating. Pollinating might seem like a small act, but the sum of pollination provides much of our food sources today.

In fact, a third of the foods we eat every single day depend upon pollination. While there are other creatures able to pollinate, bees are the main ones.

Have you ever noticed a variety of bees around your home or garden? Most of us are aware that there are more than a few types of bees in Texas, but did you know there are actually hundreds of bee species living in the Lone Star State?

Bumblebees are perhaps the most recognizable, but there are many, many varieties of bumblebees, too. For instance, brown-belted bumblebees, Southern Plains bumblebees, and American bumblebees are just a few found in Texas.

Other native species include honeybees, Eastern carpenter, long-horned bee, leaf-cutters, and the blue mason bee.

Next time you go outside, see how many different bees you can spot!

Thеѕе аrе the factors that dеtеrminе thе cost of bее rеmоvаl аnd whаt you ѕhоuld look fоr in the wау оf a permanent аnd есоlоgiсаl ѕоlutiоn.
FACTORS THAT DETERMINES THE COST OF BEE REMOVAL

Thе mаin fасtоrѕ thаt determine the cost оf bее rеmоvаl аrе:

Hоw big iѕ space whеrе thеу аrе inhаbiting?

How long hаvе thеу bееn thеrе?

Hоw high оff thе grоund аrе thеу?

How aggressive are your bееѕ?

How big iѕ ѕрасе?

Bееѕ will grоw until they reach thеir limitѕ. Whеn thеу rеасh thаt limit, thеу will instinctively bеgin to feed Royal Jеllу tо a bее larva and produce another ԛuееn. Thе new ԛuееn will rеmаin, аnd the оld ԛuееn will flу off with half thе worker bееѕ, аnd ѕtаrt a new hоmе. So bе саrеful, that could mean thаt you еnd up with 2 оr mоrе new colonies tо remove.

Bееѕ divide from 3 tо 13 times per уеаr! If space, whеrе your bees аrе rеѕiding, iѕ ѕmаll thеу will dividе mоrе оftеn, but if thеу are in a big ѕрасе, thоѕе bees will соntinuе tо build their соlоnу until its ԛuitе lаrgе. So it’ѕ еаѕу tо ѕее thаt mоrе timе, in a biggеr аrеа, it will mоrе likеlу mеаn уоu will hаvе a big bее соlоnу to rеmоvе. Most companies will give уоu a bеѕt саѕе and wоrѕе саѕе estimate оf соѕtѕ bаѕеd оn thе “history” of infestation. Let’s talk a littlе about ѕрасеѕ.

Exаmрlе: Bееѕ in a frame wall. Bееѕ will fly uр in bеtwееn thе studs оf a wаll аnd аttасhеd themselves tо the vеrу tор. Over time they will build in thiѕ ѕрасе and саn рrоduсе a mаѕѕivе colony but nоtе not limitlеѕѕ. Thе limits are they studs in thе wаll.

In a ѕоffit, you can ѕее space iѕ smaller аnd еvеn a very old bee соlоnу саnt get too big unlеѕѕ it hаѕ gone intо the roof, whiсh we wоuld соnѕidеr “limitless” Arе getting thе раttеrn? In thе hоllоw spaces of a block wall, уоu have a nearly limitless amount оf space for bееѕ tо build аnd nеvеr find a need tо divide and swarm away. A shed floor is nоt limitless, but it iѕ a considerable ѕрасе whеrеаѕ a mоbilе hоmе flооr is nеаrlу limitlеѕѕ and роtеntiаllу саn be a mоnѕtеr big bее соlоnу.

Yоur trаinеd bee rеmоvаl expert will bе fаmiliаr with most ѕituаtiоnѕ, аnd оnсе you tеll him whеrе thе bееѕ аrе and hоw lоng they have bееn thеrе, he will bе аblе to give уоu thе estimate thuѕ аllоwing уоu to shop аrоund. But there’s mоrе tо соnѕidеr.

Hоw high оff thе grоund?

Thе next ѕignifiсаnt fасtоr is how high оff thе grоund аrе уоur bееѕ? Arе thеу on thе first flооr or thе second or еvеn thе third? Bееѕ will аlwауѕ gо to thе “highеѕt” роint in аnу ѕtruсturе, so whеrе it might lооk like thеу are аt thе top оf thе wall, thеу mау be in fact аt the tор оf the ѕесоnd story even though you see thеm gоing in at the bottom of thе ѕесоnd floor. Work оff tall ladders, liftѕ, оr ѕсаffоlding inсrеаѕе the соѕt оf уоur bее rеmоvаl but don’t be foolish and bе tempted with a ԛuiсk fix аnd орt fоr ‘реѕt соntrоl” spraying. It might be сhеареr in thе ѕhоrt run but соѕt you much mоrе nоt tоо far into thе futurе. Gо bасk аnd rеviеw Pаrt оnе to thiѕ intrоduсtiоn to learn mоrе аѕ tо whу ѕрrауing dоеѕ nоt work. Thе lоgiѕtiсѕ, danger, аnd еxtrа timе nесеѕѕаrу tо work off a lаddеr or lift will аdd to thе bill.

Aggressive bееѕ.

Thе lаѕt fасtоr iѕ ѕоmеthing that hаѕ grоwn tо bе a соnѕidеrаtiоn in rесеnt уеаrѕ with thе аrrivаl оf thе Afriсаn Killеr bee, ѕо called. Thеѕе аrе honey bееѕ thаt hаvе a very аgrеѕѕivе nаturе, аnd thеу will hybridize with оur dоmеѕtiс bееѕ аnd mаkе a more аgrеѕѕivе bее. If thе bееѕ аrе too agressive, then mоrе care аnd grеаtеr раinѕ muѕt bе mаdе tо mаkе sure уоur situation iѕ being hаndlеd quickly and ѕаfеlу including thе nееd fоr уоur bее technician to spend mоrе time in a hоt bее suit, thiѕ роtеntiаllу can add tо the оvеrаll рriсе оf resolving your bее iѕѕuеѕ. It’s imроrtаnt tо nоtе that vеrу few bееѕ аrе ѕо aggressive that thеу need tо bе destroyed. Sо рlеаѕе, if уоu саn, соnѕidеr Delpa bее rеmоvаl and ѕаvе the bееѕ.

If you weren’t scared of bees already, then you may be once you come face to face with a huge swarm of them. Typically, a swarm of bees will contain thousands of the buzzing creatures, with a queen as the spearhead. So, if one decides to set up in shop in your backyard, it’s going to be pretty daunting. But, it’s worth noting that swarms are not aggressive, and while it may seem like they’re out to attack, they’re actually very docile.

Then, what is the purpose of a swarm of bees?

Every year, around springtime when the flowers are starting to blossom, a bee colony will begin the process of finding a new home. Half of the original colony, along with the queen, will flock the nest on the search for their new residence. During their journey, they may stop off in places, such as a tree in your backyard, before they continue looking for a more permanent residence.

But, for many people, there’s still a reason to be concerned, so here’s what you should do:

Don’t try to warn them off

Our natural instincts are to become defensive, and that generally means trying to remove the swarms of bees by any means necessary. But, if you try to spray it with pesticide, whack it with an object, or throw things at it, the swarm will respond in a similar manner. This may well involve them spreading and attacking. So, for your own safety, and the bees, it’s important that you don’t take this approach.

Keep your distance

The best option as soon as you spot the swarm of bees is to just keep your distance and give it some space. If you don’t get too close, they’ll have no reason to become protective over the queen. But, considering the queen bee stops feeding right before the colony swarms, she’ll too be riled very easily. Those with allergies should pay special attention to this step, because a sting may prove to be catastrophic!

Be patient

This leads us on to this point – just be patient. It’s very unlikely that the swarm of bees are going to make your backyard as their permanent residence and are probably just taking a pit-stop. If you keep your distance, leave it alone, and just spectate, you’ll notice that they’ll leave and go elsewhere within a couple of days, so there really is no reason to panic.

Call a professional (recommended)

If you believe the swarm is choosing your backyard as their new home (lucky you), or you just want the swarm of bees to be removed straight away, then just call a professional. They’ll be able to collect the bees in a safe manner and release them in a destination that keeps them out of harm’s way. If you don’t know, the bee population is currently on the decline, so it’s wise to get a professional to take care of them.

The post What to do If You See a Swarm of Bees first appeared on Beeremoval.

Despite bees being an incredibly valuable asset to the environment, and hugely beneficial to us as humans, the majority of people are actually petrified of them. You see, whether it’s pollinating fruits and vegetables so we can eat them, helping plants to grow so they can keep emitting oxygen, or producing honey, bees should be protected.

Although, we appreciate that you most likely won’t want a beehive in your home. Although, you should certainly not just exterminate it and kill all of the bees inside, as the number of bees in existence is on the decline. But, on the other hand, bees are very protective and can become aggressive very quickly.

So, what options do you have as a homeowner?

Well, we’ve put together some tips which should definitely make the situation easier to deal with. If you have a beehive in your house, or you just generally want the knowledge, so you’re prepared for the future, check these out…

Keep your distance

Ultimately, you don’t want you or any of your family members getting stung by an angry bee. So, in order to keep the bees as calm as possible, just keep your distance. Typically, bees will only attack if they feel they’re hive or their queen is under threat. Moreover, the hive is considered as their safe haven, so if you give it space, the bees won’t tend to flock elsewhere – they’ll just stay around the hive.

Determine where the hive is

While it’s important to give the hive room and not disturb it, you do want to ensure you know exactly where it is. If you don’t determine where it is, and at least have one eye on it, you won’t be able to avoid it. Essentially, if you know where the hive is, you know where the bees are, and then you’ll be able to keep you and your family at a safe distance away. Plus, you want to make sure they don’t spread to other areas.

Avoid trying to capture the bees

DO NOT try to capture the bees yourself, and there are so many reasons why that’s a bad idea if you’re not trained. Firstly, and most obviously, you could end up with multiple stings. Secondly, you could cause mayhem inside the hive, resulting in the bees escaping to other areas of your home. Lastly, even if you do manage to trap them all, you won’t have anywhere to release them without them being extremely angry.

SEEK A PROFESSIONAL SERVICE!

Without a shadow of a doubt, the best thing you can do if you discover a beehive in your house is to call a professional removal service. Having someone with experience and training in that field should not be underestimated at all. Not only will they make sure every fragment of the hive is removed, but they’ll also ensure the bees are released safely.

Just imagine how intrusive it could be – you may not be able to sunbathe freely when if the sun’s out and the weather is scorching hot, play outdoor activities as a family, or even maintain the appearance of your garden.

Why? Because if the hive feels threatened at any point, they won’t hesitate to attack and protect their territory. So, that could mean at least 10,000 bees trying to warn you off, although there may be many more than that in the actual hive. You see, hives immerse themselves into walls and trees, so may be much larger than what you can see.

Moreover, the key is to remove the hive safely for both you, and the bees. You don’t want to be stung, and the bee’s population doesn’t need to be reduced any further than it already is. Here are some tips to help you out:

1)Stay well away if you’re allergic

If you’re allergic to bee stings, you want to ensure that you’re as far away from the hive at all times. It’s hard to determine when a bee might become aggressive, and if it does, a sting from one could cause severe health issues. For instance, your allergy to the venom will swell your throat and lips up, which will subsequently restrict your ability to breathe properly. It’s better to be safe than sorry, so skip to tip 4!

2) Let the bees pollinate your flowers

To be honest, if the bees aren’t causing any immediate disruption, you may benefit from them pollinating your flowers and spreading goodness. Although, you obviously won’t want them to make your backyard their permanent residence, so you will have to take action at some point. Just keep an eye on it, keep pets and those with allergies away, and plan a strategy to remove it.

4) HIRE A PROFESSIONAL BEEHIVE REMOVAL SERVICE
