Have you ever noticed a variety of bees around your home or garden? Most of us are aware that there are more than a few types of bees in Texas, but did you know there are actually hundreds of bee species living in the Lone Star State?
Bumblebees are perhaps the most recognizable, but there are many, many varieties of bumblebees, too. For instance, brown-belted bumblebees, Southern Plains bumblebees, and American bumblebees are just a few found in Texas.
Other native species include honeybees, Eastern carpenter, long-horned bee, leaf-cutters, and the blue mason bee.
Next time you go outside, see how many different bees you can spot!
